Financial Times: Chinese Private Security Companies Go Global
Charles Clover of the Financial Times pens an important summary of the way that Chinese companies have come to depend on private security contractors — increasingly domiciled in China — and their former PLA staff to protect their growing global investments. In this piece, RWR’s Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Davenport, points out that the “intermingling between PLA and private security contractors often staffed by ‘former PLA’ is a blurry line.” The article continues, “Though private, few doubt the groups are solidly under the control of China’s national security bureaucracy. They represent “a parallel security strategy,” as Mr Davenport puts it.” The attached visual, based on RWR’s IntelTrak research tool, is inserted into the FT article.
