As reported by Tabby Kinder and James Kynge of the Financial Times, China’s Ant Group is planning to sell its U.S. subsidiary, EyeVerify, a biometric security company that was initially purchased in 2016. Ant Group, alongside EyeVerify, had previously come under scrutiny by the U.S. government, as addressed in comments offered by RWR CEO Roger Robinson. He notes in the article, “EyeVerify was being targeted by some in the previous administration as a source of data security concern…Moving to protect the personal data of Americans will probably continue under President [Joe] Biden for both political and security reasons.”
