On April 23, 2021, an article in the South China Morning Post, entitled “China’s Belt and Road Projects Face Climate Challenges,” RWR’s analyst, Courtney Hulse, offered commentary on the degree to which Belt and Road projects overlap with countries encountering environmental concerns associated with climate change. Ms. Hulse observed, “There are at least hundreds of Chinese investment projects in countries that are especially vulnerable to climate change, and many of them are on or near coastlines” in the course of highlighting the reality of Chinese business endeavors in developing countries facing difficulty.
